Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) and Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) is jointly celebrating Makara Sankranti at Adi Sankara Nilayam (maternal birth-home of Sri Adi Sankaracharya) on 14th January, 2021. Special Lakshmi Narayana Puja will be performed by Br. Ved Chaitanya. The puja will be LIVE streamed through Chinfo Channel (YouTube) from 9:00 – 10:30 AM IST.

Makara Sankranti is celebrated every year in the month of Magha (January-February). It is a festival dedicated to the Surya Devata, Bhagavan Vishnu and Devi Mahalakshmi. The day also marks the beginning of the harvest season and is celebrated as a thanks giving to nature. Makara Sankranti is known by various names throughout India, such as Bihu (Assam), Lohri (Punjab), Pongal (Tamil Nadu) and so on. The festival usually celebrated by making colourful decorations, flying kites, Lakshmi Narayana Puja and so on.
