What makes the AVI-2023 an immersive experience?
The first two Advaita Vedanta Immersive (AVI 2017 & 2018) programmes focussed on the Adhyasabhashya and the first Brahmasutra - (jijñasasutra). The upcoming AVI 2023 will be a comprehensive study of the second Brahmasutra – janmadyasya yatah (janmadyadhikarana). Participants will be guided through the second sutra with detailed discourses on the Shankara-bhashya, supplemented with sessions of svadhyaya, group discussions, Q&A sessions, meditation and the submission of a synopsis of the day’s learnings. This holistic methodology of Sravana, Manana and Nididhyasana is what makes this an Advaita Vedanta Immersive. Indeed, it is an amazing opportunity to study the commentaries of Sri Adi Shankaracharya in His very birth home!
About the text: Brahmasutra Chatuhsutri
The Upanishads, the Brahmasutra, and the Bhagavad Gita are the three basic texts of the Vedanta (Prasthanatraya). Every Upanishad reveals that knowledge of the oneness of the Self that destroys the ignorance that is the cause of all problems. Brahmasutra authored by Sri Veda Vyasa expounds the principles of Advaita Vedanta by stringing together the major thoughts presented in the Upanishads. The detailed commentary by Sri Shankaracharya is invaluable for our understanding of the text. A clear understanding of the priceless concepts of Vedanta can be attained by studying the first four sutras, also known as the ‘Chatuhsutri’.
