Adi Sankara Jayanti Sibiram

Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) invites you to a 4-days residential camp to celebrate Adi Sankara Jayanti with discourses by Swami Sharadananda Sarasvati on the texts ‘Prashnottara Ratna Malika’ and ‘Totakashtakam’. The Camp will be held at Adi Sankara Nilayam, the maternal birth-home of Sri Adi Sankara, in Ernakulam, Kerala.

Prashnottara Ratna Malika is a garland of gems in the form of knowledge revealing questions and answers. In this short but insightful text Sri Adi Sankaracharya gives practical guidance to the seekers of Truth, that is of more value than precious gems for the richness and brilliance of the insights of the teachings. The text is of beneficial for those who will honour the verses by constantly dwelling on them in one’s daily life. During the camp Swami Sharadanandaji will be taking two sessions daily on the text, giving deep and practical insights to benefit all.

Totakashtakam is a divine hymn composed by Sri Totakacharya as a revered offering to his Guru Sri Adi Sankaracharya. Through eight beautiful stanzas, Totakacharyaji conveys his deep devotion and gratitude towards the great Jagadguru. Surrendering to the Guru he seeks the blessings of the Guru, pleading him to compassionately grant the divine knowledge and thus uplift the seeker beyond this samsara. The chanting and understanding of the verses will be covered by Swami Sharadanandaji during the evening satsangs in the camp.

About Camp Facilitator:

Swami Sharadananda Sarasvati, is a polyglot with expertise in Sanskrit, Indian Philosophy (Yoga and Advaita Vedanta) with an in-depth understanding of ritualistic and cultural traditions. With a postgraduate degree in Advaita Vedanta, Swamiji combines the best of Gurukula learning with academic excellence.
